Radiation Safety Week – 2024
The Alberta Veterinary Technologist Association (ABVTA) will be recognizing Radiation Safety Week, running November 3 – 9th, 2024.
With increasing caseloads and staffing challenges, our personal radiation safety may not always be top of mind. Veterinary professionals are too often directly exposed to radiation on a daily basis.
Your safety is justifiable, lets work together to reduce occupational radiation exposure of veterinary professionals through innovation and education.
This year’s focus will be on occupational exposures and risk reduction in veterinary medicine.
During Radiation Safety Week, the ABVTA will be hosting a webinar With Drs. Monique Mayer and Niels Koehncke.
Date: November 6, 2024 – Occupational Radiation Exposures in Veterinary Medicine, 12:00 – 1:00 PM
Description: • Join us as we discuss common occupational health hazards with ionizing radiation and approaches to risk reduction in veterinary medicine. Findings of recent investigations into radiation safety behaviors among veterinarians and veterinary technologists will be discussed, doses associated with diagnostic radiograph acquisition, and practical ways to protect workers from ionizing radiation.
