We are thrilled to introduce Megan Niles as a new member of the ABVTA Board of Directors! 🎉Megan graduated from the veterinary technology program at NAIT in 2015 where she developed a passion for the medical field and honed her skills in small animal and exotic pet medicine. Throughout her career, Megan has been supported by mentors who fostered her creativity and growth. At her clinic, she helped develop an RVT engagement system and specialized appointments to improve workflow and patient care.Eager to advance the mobilization and engagement of RVTs, Megan joins the ABVTA Board to collaborate and support RVTs, believing these efforts will improve retention and have a lasting impact on the veterinary profession.We’re excited to see Megan’s contributions to the ABVTA and veterinary community. 🌟 We are excited to announce ABVTA Member Darryl Haugen as the recipient of the 2024 ABVTA Appreciation Award! 🌟 This award is presented to an ABVTA member in who has made significant contributions to the ABVTA through projects and activities while volunteering as a board member, affiliated position or as a committee member.

💫 Criteria for the Award:
✅ Actively served on an ABVTA committee, as an affiliated position, or on the Board of Directors for at least two years.
✅ Promotes and contributes to the profession of veterinary technology through conduct at work or in public situations.
✅ Promotes and enhances the image of the ABVTA.

Growing up in Northern BC/AB, Darryl learned about the profession during a life-changing high school tour of Fairview College. Since graduating in 2011, she has built a diverse career spanning livestock, horse racing, shelter medicine, enforcement, wildlife, general practice, and, most recently, achieving her dream of becoming a zoo technologist. A dedicated volunteer and lifelong learner, Darryl embraces every opportunity to grow and is excited for the future of veterinary technology.

We proudly celebrate Darryl's dedication to animals, veterinary medicine, and the community she serves. Her contributions continue to elevate the role of RVTs, paving the way for future generations in the profession.
