2023, saw the highest increase in average wages, with an overall provincial rise of $2.91/hr. However, urban RVTs continue to earn an average of $2.62/hr more than their rural counterparts. Despite a reported average of an 8% overall annual salary increase and a provincial average wage that is $14.58 higher than the minimum wage, there remains no correlation between compensation and years of practice, especially for RVTs with over 10 years of experience. Inconsistent starting wages for new graduates and a rise in average years of practice from 9.41% in 2022 to 10.95% in 2023 were also noted.
We encourage everyone to review the recommendations from the 2022 RVT Compensation Review, which can be viewed in the Member and Industry Report or by clicking here.
